Listen for the Beep
Come to Me…take My yoke…learn from Me…and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29
But the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. 1 Kings 19:12
I recently conversed with our 12-year-old grandson Micah about the three action steps in Jesus’ Great Invitation of Matthew 11. For 20 years, it’s been our simple way of helping people learn to rest in Jesus’ love as a daily lifestyle. We call it the “Jesus’ 3-step”(Come to Me, Take My Yoke, Learn from Me); or the “3 Surrenders for Victory.”(Surrender Burdens, Surrender Control, Surrender Undivided Attention) He’ll help everyone who loves Him to learn from Him to walk and talk with Him—even a 12-year-old or this near 70-year-old! Kim was listening out in the kitchen and came out to testify. We brew a pot of delicious hibiscus tea daily for health benefits, provided we bring it exactly to boiling to release max potency of the leaves. Kim giggled because she kept missing the soft safety beep of the kettle and had to reheat it SIX TIMES to 212 degrees before she heard the soft beep! She exclaimed, “That’s a lot like learning to hear Jesus’ voice in our hearts! We have to pay attention!” We laughed and agreed. Jesus knows we have a lot to learn, so He helps! Over these 20 years we’ve seen Him help people come rest in His love because He loves them AND because He wants them to hear His “still small voice” personally and corporately. We need to hear His soft voice inside because the world’s distractions, the enemy’s deceptions are loud. Yet, He who is in us is greater, to burst forth His potent fruit! Listen for the beep.

SPEIGHT FAMILY UPDATE
We so appreciate your prayer covering for us as overseers AND our children (Emily and David Spinden; Daniel and Bethel Speight) and their children. Top to bottom , left column; Micah Spinden, 12, Truly Spinden, 8, Mary Speight, 2, Top to bottom, right column; Grant Spinden, age 6, Simon Spinden 2, Caleb Spinden, 11, and Grace Spinden, 3. Emily continues as preaching associate and David as Elder at River of Life church in Cedar Rapids. Emily continues to homeschool the 6 kids, and they all live just a block from us. David continues as a high-level, respected GPS systems engineer for BAE. Daniel and Bethel have joined, and are exploring their callings, in Calvary Church of Walcott, Iowa—a new church in the new bible-believing Global Methodist denomination. Daniel continues developing a large following in sales at Key Auto Mall in Moline/Quad Cities. Bethel provides in-home daycare at their Walcott home. We are very proud of our 4 adult children who all deeply love Jesus, their spouses, their children. As you pray for family as led—please pray for these 2 specifics.
1. Caleb’s healing and protection as he continues to battle(almost 2 years) a pediatric kidney syndrome. We thank the Lord that Caleb continues to grow strong, most days with no major difficulties, and no terrible side effects from strong medicines. Thank You Jesus! We have faith that one morning Caleb will wake up and it will be shown that day to his parents and his doctors that he is well, in Jesus’s name! Until then, join us in praying faith, healing, miracles AND the right successful medical treatments with NO side effects—in Jesus’ name!
2. Beth continues in a difficult pregnancy as they are expecting a baby boy around Oct. 9th! Baby continues to do well, but Beth is struggling. She is not on bedrest, but doctors caution limited activity. (Beth is a go-getter, and so is Mary, so that’s not easy! 😊 Some complications have the potential of requiring an earlier delivery to protect both baby and Beth. Join us in praying the Lord remove these complications AND protect, strengthen and give peace for Beth, Daniel, Mary, and baby boy Speight—in Jesus’ name!

Sunday, July 19th, the eve of our 46th wedding anniversary, we heard the Lord say simply and deeply for a dear sister in our house fellowship “ Tell her, I am faithful.” She was deeply moved. So are we. He wants you to receive the word from Him, too. Please listen for all He is saying to you in that. We are! Check out the “Faithfulness” section of Chapters 23,24,25 in our book REAL FRUIT! We are! In this 20th Anniversary year of Come Rest, let’s stay connected and come up higher in His Rest, bearing His real fruit!
