Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him. Gen 40:23

Dear National and Local friends of Come Rest,

I’m reminded today of something the Lord spoke to us about 17 years ago, “I am out to dis-illusion My people. My people use the terms “disappointment” and “disillusionment” interchangeably, but they are two different things. In the midst of all My people’s disappointments, I am out to dis-illusion them. I’m out to take away the illusion that they are in control and I am not.”

Kim and I are now once again into the story of Joseph in our daily reading plan. Even though Joseph is falsely imprisoned, he shares God’s encouraging dream interpretation to the despondent chief butler of Pharoah in prison with him. Joseph asks the grateful butler to kindly mention him to Pharoah, when the butler is set free; to help Joseph get out of prison too. However, when the butler is freed, he immediately forgets all about Joseph. Two more years pass, before God intervenes by giving a dream to Pharoah only Joseph can interpret. Only then, does the butler remember and repent and tell Pharoah about Joseph. Then ALL of Joseph’s disappointments are flipped toward divine appointment. You can read on with us into Joseph’s story. But this episode reminds me of so much present wisdom and gratitude Kim and I now have—because He has worked what the enemy meant for our harm in the past ALL for our good. And He always will. What a constantly victorious Lord we serve! Don’t you agree? Isn’t it great that He is in control, and you are not?

Let’s pray! “Lord, forgive me for holding things in my heart against others, myself, or even You. From every moment others harmed me; from every moment I fell short of Your glory; You immediately began working it together for my good—because by Your grace I am numbered amongst those who love you and are called according to your purpose. Forgive me for trying to control my life, others, and the world. You are God. I am not. I surrender. You win. You always win, sooner or later. Hallelujah! Amen.”
