Dear National and Local Friends,
I look forward to moving in the Spirit with local friends on my birthday, Friday November 7th, 630-830 at our Awakening of Love worship and intercession flow at CLC! For all our friends, I believe Billy Graham is cheering us on in Heaven in this new season. It has always meant a lot to me to share a birthday with Billy! I cherish the memories of watching Billy preach on TV at my grandma’s many times in my childhood. She’d call my mom and say, “Janetta, I’ve put on a mess of beans in the pot. Come over for supper, and afterward we’ll watch Billy. She loved the Lord, and she loved Bily, and so did we. I’ll be testifying/teaching that night as we worship Jesus with the musical help of Jeff Schneiders and Chas Habercamp! Join us in body, or in spirit, as we, like Billy once did, rededicate our lives to Christ “submitting every detail of our lives to every word of His Book.” I first did this reading Billy’s autobiography, Just As I Am, one midnight in May 1999. I had been a shepherd for 20 years. Inspired by Billy’s own testimony of repentance from doubting and non-biblical theologizing, I knelt before the Lord to repent of my own doubt and creative thrologizing and professed my belief in every word of the Bible and trusting His ongoing help, submitted every detail of my life to every word of His Book. I had been secretly embarrassed that I had never read the Bible cover to cover. That night the Lord fired a hunger for scripture in me like never before. I read the Bible straight through that summer, and cover-to-cover seven times in the next seven years. With his help, Kim and I continue in bible reading plans of one kind or another that keep us daily reading through the Bible. Of all the ways we’ve experienced power of the Lord, people ask me how has the Holy Spirit impacted me most. I often think of that night “with Billy.” Every word of the Bible is packed with the love, truth, and power of Jesus for those seek Him in Scripture with childlike faith. The Body of Christ will one day come into plumbline with His word through the witness and intercession of believers who submit every detail of their life to every word of His book. Heard this word ministering to someone last week. We believe it’s for us all. “Trim the sails. Beware the fat thumb.” “Trim the sails” is a nautical term to adjust the sail to catch the full wind powered speed available. The wind is the Spirit. He wants you to stop striving in your strength to make things happen in your will and timing. Surrender control and ask Him to move things along at His pace. Sometimes He goes faster or slower than we want. His will be done! “Beware the fat thumb” is something I’ve heard for the first time. Had to look it up! I love how the Holy Spirit sometimes uses current idiom. It’s a recent phrase from the 2010’s about the hazards of making transactions with a phone keyboard. A fat thumb can hastily and mistakenly buy, sell, communicate in a disastrous way. Basically, we believe He’s saying “Go at My speed, not yours. Trust Me. Who’s the Shepherd in this relationship, anyway?”😊 Prov 19:2; Prov 21:5; James 1:19; Ecc 7:9; Prov 28:25; Prov 25; Gal 5.

IN THIS NEW SEASON, we hear Him say, “Rest, Renew, Reset.” He’s long taught us—IF you come surrendering your burdens(unrepentant sin, doubt, worries, cares, grudges), surrendering control, surrendering undivided attention—HE will RENEW you by giving REST on the outside from the enemy and on the inside for your soul. He may presently have a few adjustments He wants you to RESET in your walk with Him daily/weekly moving into November. Join us. More importantly, join Him!
We’ll let you know how He’s working with us. For starters, we have reset our daily bible reading plan. You may be led to join us; no pressure, but ask Him. If He gives you peace and permission—go for it! We’ve placed 4 bookmarks in our Bibles. One each in Genesis, Psalms, Hosea, and Romans. Each day we read one chapter at each bookmark. When we finish Genesis, Hosea, and Romans we will move onto the next book. When we finish Psalms we will repeat Psalms. It’s good to have an undergirding Bible reading plan. You are free, of course, to depart from it as the Spirit leads. But if you want a deeper walk with Him where you increasingly hear His voice in your heart; where you are less seldom distracted by the cares of the world and never deceived by the enemy—let Him energize you in daily Bible reading. Let us know how He’s helping you rest, renew, reset. Begin where you are. He does!

Please pray protection over us and CRM, that this video spreads to call His people into plumb.
