Dear National and Local friends,
Complaint or Compliant?
I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall be continually in my mouth. My soul will make its boast in the Lord. The humble will hear and be glad. Psalm 34:1-2
Kim and I were recently on a day trip taking roads unknown to us. We had our handy dandy on-board GPS navigation system programmed with selected destination. We chose to avoid the stress of truck-dominated interstate traffic for the peaceful scenery of an alternate smooth paved route. We settled into a lovely trip, singing along to the radio, as well as shutting it off to enjoy conversations as best friends of 45 years. Unfortunately, our conversation drifted into complaining about the irritating and threatening matters in our life and world. Before we knew it we were driving onto gravel! Funny thing. We had everything mapped out, with a clear GPS “voice” to guide us. Yet, our complaining drowned out several repeated warnings and we were faced with an unpleasant choice/consequence. We could plow ahead on spitting gravel or backtrack many miles and minutes to the junction which we had completely blown by.
Under conviction, He graciously helped us just start laughing! We both agreed, “This will preach!” Continuing under conviction we apologized to the Lord for drowning out His provision of the GPS (and wasting our time and peaceful journey) with complaining. Complaining is never in a positive light in scripure. He knows it deprives you, and those around you, of your joyful witness and powerful prayers. He loves it when you faithfully lament to Him. (e.g. You may cry out “Lord, You are allowing this difficult circumstance. I hurt. I’m frustrated. I’m afraid. Help me, Lord!’) Stinkin’ thinkin’ and speakin’ fouls discernment and invites distraction. Lament, praise, and good report clear the way to hear His Voice and peacefully proceed where He leads. Do you want His results through your prayers and witness? Ask Him to help you bless Him at all times and stay ready to praise Him. He will help you, especially when you don’t feel like it. Don’t complain. Comply.

He has you just ready enough for stepping up into our Come Rest 2025 Prayer Call to intercession grounded in Psalm 56 & 1 Samuel 21:10-22:2 & Psalm 34—which we have been tracking/studying. This week He added James 1! Please read/reread these. If you want a refresher over the bible grounding of this, go to our recent entry on the Updates page, entitled, “This Poor Man Cried Out…”
Join us in daily prayer for the following four categories of people until further notice. In each category, wait on the Lord to bring specific individuals to your heart and mind. Pray life and life abundant over them, in Jesus’ name! We’ve been doing this every day the last five weeks and it generally takes 5-10 minutes. Occasionally He takes us deeper and longer in the praying and it is so renewing!
Pray for those who are afraid, that they would put all their trust in Jesus.
Pray for those who are being persecuted for following Jesus; that they would be delivered and endure fruitfully until they are.
Pray for your extended family to come join you at the feet of Jesus in real faith, hope, and love.
Pray for all who are distressed in body and soul, or enslaved in debt, or who are discontented; that they would come to Jesus and find rest and become mighty under His Captaincy!
