Is it right for you to be angry? Jonah 4:4
Send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me…Psalm 43:3
Dear Friends,
Wow! Kim and I have been stopped by the Lord, commanded to dive afresh into His heart of mercy for all people, especially enemies of His people. We call all friends of Come Rest to join us. Prayerfully and slowly read Jonah. Ask the Lord to speak to you. It’s a very short, power packed account. Don’t assume you’ve heard it all before. Read it several times, with Him, the next two weeks. Put yourself in the place of Jonah; then in the place of the mariners; then in the place of the citizens of Nineveh; then in the place of the King of Nineveh. Jonah feared the Lord and knew His merciful ways. Jonah hated wicked Nineveh, which had harmed his nation and God’s people many times. The Lord commanded Jonah to preach His word to Niveveh. Jonah ran in the opposite direction. Are you running with the Lord, or away from Him? Don’t answer too quickly. Jonah was the only prophet commanded to carry a warning word exclusively to enemy Gentiles.
Yet, our Lord in the New Testament commands all of us to preach the Gospel to all creatures and make disciples of all nations; and to pray for all men, especially kings. Let the Lord sort, sift, and whisper to you in all the nuances and blatancies of your thoughts, feelings, words, and actions—relative to Minnesota, America, Israel, your extended family, the rest of your sphere of influence, even yourself. You and me were Nineveh.
Are you praying and speaking the Lord’s word for people to repent, turn around, from their wicked ways toward His wonderful mercy. Before the Lord returns, it’s not too late for anyone to repent. And it’s not too late for the Body of Christ to turn from our wicked ways in any way we are not running with the Lord for others’ repentance.
More to say next week. For now, you need to get into Jonah. Jesus is waiting in your heart. For this week we are hearing, “I am merciful. Ask Me to move in mercy.” Kim and I are now including this in our prayers, ready to speak of His truth and His light to people we meet. We all were Nineveh. Again, join us. Thank You Jesus!
“Lord, You know the wicked activities of not-yet-saved people, as well as the unbiblical activities of believers around us. It all can cause us to feel afraid and angry. Forgive us for acting on our fears and angers, not in Your Spirit. Thank you for Your mercy to us. Help us run to You with our fear and anger; so we can run with You praying and proclaiming Your merciful truth and light. Stretch out You hand to shut down the activities of the wicked. Move in Your mercy to bring them to repentance. Amen.”
