If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Gal 5:25
Dear National and Local friends,
As you know, we cherish Chapter 5 of Galatians. It inspired our second book Real Fruit. Because He has directed our entire ministry into Galatians, you might reread that book sometime this summer. Most importantly, the Lord has alerted us in prayer there is much striving by Christians in the strength of their own power, not in the strength and guiding of the Spirit, in our city. Too many people of good intentions getting ahead of the Lord. We’ve been there. How about you? This week Dick had a great journaling conversation with the Lord in which He highlighted verses 1,5,6,10,13,25. He finished by saying, “Keep in step with Me. It is true I call you all to step by faith, but WITH Me, not FOR Me. Follow means follow. You must let Me lead. You must let Me love you; you must let Me lead.” The last sentence was exactly the words He spoke to Dick in January of 1999. You can read of this in context in our book Come Up, Chapter 19 At The Helm. One of the best things you could do right now for your family and city is to prayerfully and carefully read that chapter; and set aside some time to dive deeper into Galatians 5 and Dick’s highlighted verses. He may highlight other verses for you. Enjoy. Rest. Respond to what He says to your heart.
