Dear Friends,
This past Monday night I awoke to a watchman call at 3AM as the Lord put Psalm 73 on my heart. Every once in a while, over the years, we have learned Psalm 73 is a wake up call to be “aware in prayer” for believers around you whose feet may be slipping. All they perceive is the bad guys winning, because they have stopped coming up in the Spirit, they have stopped resting on Jesus in their heart—and they in the burdensome habit of reasoning in their flesh believing the devil’s lies like the rest of the world. Their thinking is gloomy, their hearts heavy, and they are about to take the next step down a very slippery slope—to begin speaking all those deathly lies of unbelief aloud. There is great power in the tongue. If you believe in your heart Jesus was raised from the dead and confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord—you will be saved eternally and rescued repeatedly. But if you stop believing in your heart and start voicing it, great danger awaits for you and others who are looking to your faith and considering your Lord.
Two weeks ago, the Lord convicted/corrected me. I heard Him say in my heart, “Stop paying attention to all the commentators and predictors, both secular and religious. Most everything they say is coming, is not. Pay attention to Me, and only those voices I permit you.” I immediately repented and was instantly plumb lined and refreshed. Then came last Monday night.
After 67 years of life and 45 years of ministry, because we are in a “Psalm 73 Alert”, I can testify to you with certainty that some believer in your sphere of influence is putting up a good front and acting like everything is fine, but their feet are about to slip. Be on the lookout, because they’re not. And for good measure, memorize and pray verse 28 for yourself, your household, and the household of God. In the days ahead, we must all feed and believe on His Word and rest on His chest intimately—so we can hear His still small voice and teach others to do so. Artificial intelligence and anarchic foolishness may abound, but they will never deceive those who perceive His voice. They will never defeat those who sit at His feet. They will never destroy those who know His joy.
So come rest in the busyness of continually drawing near, placing fresh trust, and testifying to Jesus. Then your feet, your eyes, your mouth, your heart will never near the slippery slope—and others around you may step back from the brink before it’s too late.
“Lord, have mercy. Lord, come quickly. In the meantime, Lord take us higher to see Your face and hear Your voice in our hearts and fellowship in these days. Amen.”
